Kuching Waterfront - A place with historic values!

Kuching Waterfront, aptly called "The People Place" was built for the people of Sarawak. It is their place to enjoy, to entertain and be entertained. A heritage to be proud of and a legacy to pass on to generations to come. Stretching approximately 1 km long, with a riverside walk linking the hotel precint with downtown Kuching. The waterfront is 'self-contained' with facilities for entertainment, refreshment, relaxation, cultural enjoyment and arts appreciation. It is also a great place for family gatherings, corporate outings and school and community projects.

Everyday, we can see many people from all walks of life passing through the area. However, how many really realise that each step as they strod through is rich in local history and culture?

Dear friends, readers...... let me share with you the history of Sarawak with Kuching as the major city; the coming of James Brooke to Kuching in 1839 who later became the 1st White Rajah of Sarawak in 1841; the Formation of the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963 and till Kuching becomes a flourishing modern city of Sarawak.

This 'History Walk - No. 1 to 12' really tells the history at that particular time through photo and a short write-up. I can ensure you all that it won't be bored but simple and yet very meaningful. In future if you happen to be around there, do look out for these 12 History Walk. Happy viewing............

Thanks Roseline for the pictures of the History Walk plaques. I was in Kuching recently and saw #5. I was writing a Virtualtourist tip and wanted to know more about them. Your information was very helpful.
