Singing not as a career but a hobby........ (Part 2)

Friends.... let me share with you my singing experiences...........
In the early days we have to sing with a Live Band. Before any performance we need to go for practices which are already pre-arranged. As far as I could remember, I've sang mostly with Radio Malaysia Sarawak's Band and another Police Band D' Kenyalang.

In my Secondary School days, I also sang during Teacher's Day, either in group or solo. Let me show you off with these few black and white photos........ It's really down memory lane.......

I Sang 'Limbo Rock'
Group Performance on Teacher's Day

I also sang during my friend's wedding dinner....... (Year 1980)

In 1988 I took part in a singing competition organised by our Company "Bintang STM" and I got 3rd place. Not bad haah!! Wanna see my trophy and me in action????

Let me share with you a Quote on Singing by 'Christina Georgina Rosetti'

My heart is like a singing........

My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a watered shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickest fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea.

That's all for the time being..... will continue again when I am free. Regards to all!

Congratulations for another successful picket!

18th March 2008 add another important history into UTES Chronology. Despite the rain since morning, it didn't bother the members much though. I believe that with the member's strong determination and prayers there is a sudden change of weather just before the picket start - indeed what a blessing!

The turnout was fantastic and with their RED outfits I believe that it will show to the management that the workers are really serious and they mean business!!

I am so proud to learn that Sibu Branch members are also staging their picket - Hip! Hip! Hurray Sibu!!

This is the time where the workers need support. Also present are members from Sister's Union and also the general public - See how they show their support by their waving of hands from inside their vehicles, sounding of their vehicle's horn and even up to the extent of putting their thumbs up!!

Once again I would like to say 'Tahniah dan syabas" to all, especially all members of UTES. Continue to support the Union for the betterment of all workers in TM. Remember that without the members there will be no Union and with all your strong support, UTES will forever be STRONG! So..... Solidarity Forever!!

Nationwide Picketing for TM Employees!!

It has only been after one year five months since TM employees last picket. Now??? It's back again??? So soon!!

Payphones subsidiary has just recently been sold off..... now what again??? Which Unit is next on the list????

Ex-colleagues & friends (local and abroad)..... it looks like there are many more new grievances at hand. I've just been informed of the picket this morning and a copy of the Notice Of Picket has been E-mailed to me. After taking a glance through the notice.... I think tomorrow's picket deserve to be on!

Just imagine how tortured the employees are..... having sleepless nights, worrying about their job security. I really felt how you all feel right now, as I was once in your situation before.

My dear friends, you should all join force with the Unions to help put an end to such heartless acts of the management. They never care about their employees instead, their only thoughts are 'how to get rid of them'!!

My simpathy is with you all and I will be there tomorrow to support. Despite that I am now an ex-employee of TM but my heart is still with you all, that is the workers at large.

Aspects of a successful women

  1. Women should have a clear vision of what they really want in their life
  2. Working women should learn to cope well in their pursuit for a balance between career and family
  3. They should learn to work effectively using all their time valuably
  4. Be always ready to contribute in all aspects
  5. Women should not shy away from taking centrestage but instead to grab the spotlight when opportunity arises
  6. Women needs to understand also the different ways of thinking and behaving between the genders. This will help women to be more effective and less frustrated in their role as wife, mother and employee
  7. They should know what is currently happening in society. Through their awareness they can voice their grievances, help to reduce social ills and find beneficial solutions

Because I am a women, I must make unusual efforts to succeed.

If I fail no one will say, "She doesn't have what it takes".

They will say, "Women don't have what it takes."

Kuching Waterfront - A place with historic values!

Kuching Waterfront, aptly called "The People Place" was built for the people of Sarawak. It is their place to enjoy, to entertain and be entertained. A heritage to be proud of and a legacy to pass on to generations to come. Stretching approximately 1 km long, with a riverside walk linking the hotel precint with downtown Kuching. The waterfront is 'self-contained' with facilities for entertainment, refreshment, relaxation, cultural enjoyment and arts appreciation. It is also a great place for family gatherings, corporate outings and school and community projects.

Everyday, we can see many people from all walks of life passing through the area. However, how many really realise that each step as they strod through is rich in local history and culture?

Dear friends, readers...... let me share with you the history of Sarawak with Kuching as the major city; the coming of James Brooke to Kuching in 1839 who later became the 1st White Rajah of Sarawak in 1841; the Formation of the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963 and till Kuching becomes a flourishing modern city of Sarawak.

This 'History Walk - No. 1 to 12' really tells the history at that particular time through photo and a short write-up. I can ensure you all that it won't be bored but simple and yet very meaningful. In future if you happen to be around there, do look out for these 12 History Walk. Happy viewing............

This new shopping paradise which opened on 20th September 2007 is situated at Jalan Bukit Bintang. The once old Bukit Bintang Girls Secondary School area has given way to this seven-storey building, which have 450 outlets housing shops, food and beverage outlets and urban leisure areas.

This new shopping experience is also in line with New York's 5th Avenue, Tokyo's Ginza and Milan. For those who loves shopping for branded products, this will be the right place for you all as designer brands of international standards such as Versace, Aigner, Club Monaco, Coach, Ermenegildo Zegna, Hermes and many others will be featured here.

Some of the main tenants are Parkson, TANGS, Harvey Norman, GSC Cinemas, Fitness First and True Fitness Centres, Times Bookshop and others.

Pavilion KL is an anchor piece of the world-class urban development which also comprises of two luxury residential towers and a corporate office.

During my recent trip to KL, I've visited the place twice and I'm really engrossed with the beautiful and gorgeous decorations that they've put up. I love the stage area (big and spacious) and over-looking it are steps (like those of a stadium). So whenever they organised any activities there, they can just sit on the steps.... it's really cool..... This is the first of it's kind that I've seen so far!

For those who are in KL, do drop by at Pavilion, it sure will be a new shopping experience for all.......

Singing not as a career but a hobby........ (Part 1)

When I was very young I have already loved to sing! As far back as I can remember, I used to hear my dad strum the guitar while my mum sing along to the music.....

I love to copy all my favourite songs in a book and in my own free time I will sing as I turn the pages. When my dad is free (after work) he will either strum his guitar or play the organ and I'll be singing along to his music. This is how I developed my interest in singing.

My dad had a very special talent when it comes to musical instruments! Mind you..... he can play any musical instruments that is given to him. I used to hear him playing music out of bottles filled with water!! It's amazing right?? How sad for he had left us for 28 years this coming April 14th. Though he is not with us in person but I will forever remember his love and care for us, his special talents, and most of all his music which always rings in my heart!!

I joined the first singing competition when I was in Primary 4, organised by our school. As that was my first experience, I dare to admit that my singing was horrible due to stage fright! However, it never discourage me as it is a good experience for me. Just imagine.... 'how many people dare to go up the stage to sing??'

When I was in Secondary School, I went to Radio Malaysia Sarawak (at that time it is RMS and not RTM) with a school friend of mine who also loves to sing. We were successful in our audition and were required to sing for a Christmas Show. It was indeed a memorable experience as it was my first time I sang on stage, infront of an audience and also aired on radio. The song that I sang is "White Christmas". I was also requested to sing for a radio program "Local Entertainers" which I perform three songs.

Till today I still love to sing. Whenever I am bored or stress, I'll do my own Karaoke at home. Just to let you all know that singing is a very good way to de-stress! So, start singing my dear friends.........

What makes a great leader or a person others would look up to?

To be a leader or person others will remember for the rest of their lives is not only to be a great person or someone who have unusual strengths or uniqueness. Rather, you are remembered because of simple behaviour that were motivating to others, like showing compassion when someone's child is sick, remembering their birthdays for the matter, and many more. Why?? Because these memories are charged with feelings!

A person may have accomplished much achievements in an organisation or company, and as a consequence, got written up in the papers and recognised with award after award. But all these won't mean a thing to the man in the street, or to an ordinary employee on the lowest rung of the organisation.

So whatever we are doing, there is need for us to be concern over people around us and try to give our utmost assistance to them as and when required. There will come a time when we are in need of help and we have all the wonderful people standing by us.

Dogs and Cats

Dogs and Cats are loveable pets. Don't think I am crazy.... but it's true! My dog will growl and wags it's tail and same to my cat, it will meow whenever they saw/hear us coming home. That seems to be their way of greeting us. If we care to spend a little time with them, talking to them, brushing their fur (with our hands of course) and most importantly FEED them, then they are sure to love us! Animals lovers..... I think you'll agree with me.

So, make sure we all treat them well..... and NEVER be cruel to animals! Allow me to share with you some of the photographs (which are taken recently by my daughter Karen) for your viewing . For those who don't like animals, maybe after seeing these cute photos you will change your mind towards them...... Ready to Roll............

"The Best Way To Prepare For Life Is To Begin To Live"

Recently I was accompanying an elderly family member for Physio Therapy treatment at one of the specialist centre in Kuching. As that was my first experience to such a place, I was rather curious to know what is going on inside there. I was quite facinated with the moden equipments there and it looks more like a fitness center. My first impression was "Wow! that's great!"

However, after couple of continuous days there and seeing more patients coming and going for their treatment, my feelings really changed! I really feel so sad, sorry and pitiful for them. Apart from those older people who have to change their knee caps due to wear and tear or fell down and broke their knee caps, there are also quite a number of young people! It is really shocking to observe that some are young and half paralised!!

What really touched me is that, despite what they have gone through, they never give up hope. As the Quote says "Hope Is The Dream Of A Waking Man". I can really see their strong determination to continue on with their life! So is the title of my Blog "The Best Way To Prepare For Life Is To Begin To Live". They are looking forward to what life have to offer for them and are willing to change from their old life to the new.

May The Good Lord grant His Healing Power upon all of you.
God Bless!
