Wanna feel 100% healthier????

Here's another great article about health to share..........

Addicted to smoking, junk food or a lazy lifestyle? Change your ways and your body will thank you for it.

We're all guilty of a bad habit or two, even when we know it's not good for us. But not all bad habits have lasting effects on our health. If you gather enough courage to call it quits once and for all, you will see how quickly the benefits start to kick in. So don't give up - stop and reverse the damage now - and you'll enjoy a longer, happier life.

SMOKING
Women who smoke are at greater risk of developing stroke, and heart and lung diseases. They are also more susceptible to female-specific smoking-related illnesses. Women smokers have double the chance of developing cervical cancer compared to non-smokers, and are 30% more like to get breast cancer. They are prone to osteoporosis and are more likely to experience reduced fertility and early menopause.

In order to quit, get the right support. Coping with withdrawal symptoms is not easy, but can be better managed by seeking professional help and support. Studies show that smokers are four times more likely to quit smoking successfully compared to those who try to quit on their own.

........ after 12 hours
The benefits of snuffing out your habit are almost immediate. The moment you give up cigarettes, your blood pressure and pulse rate will gradually drop to normal, leading to an instant reduced risk of heart attack. Eight hours later, nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in the blood are halved, with oxygen levels returning to normal. This enhances energy levels, and psychomotor and cognitive skills. After 24 hours, carbon monoxide is eliminated from the body, and the lungs will clear out mucus and other smoking debris.

........ within a month
You'll find your body clear of nicotine. It's normal to get cravings but you must resist them, no matter how hard it is to do so. You'll find that your sense of taste and smell will be greatly improved. And as your bronchial tubes begin to relax, breathing becomes easier. Blood circulation will also improve.

........ 12 months and beyond
In just a year, a former smoker's risk of a heart attack reduces by half compare to that of a continuing smoker. And after 10 years of staying smoke-free, the risk of lung and mouth cancers is reduced to half that of a continuing smoker.

The 4-D Way to quit smoking
When do you crave a cigarette and what tempts you to smoke? Learning about this plays a big part in successful quitting. Try to follow the 4-Ds when temptation strikes.

1. Distract yourself by doing something else.
2. Delay lighting up.
3. Do deep breathing exercises.
4. Drink a glass of water or milk slowly.

So, all smoking friends........ hope these tips are of great use to you - It is all for the healthier you!! Will continue in my next blog on 'Junk Food' & 'Exercise'.

Raining "Cats & Dogs"

With a heavy downpour for approximately about 15 minutes, Kuching roads are nearly submerged in water!! Why oh why??? The simple reason being no proper drainage!! The rain water have no way to go, so........ it will flow all over - as simple as that! Some roads can be seen fully covered with the rain water, it is as if it has been raining for hours.

What happens if this year's landas season really do come???? What will become of Kuching City??? It might be worst than the flood three to four years ago, where many homes in the heart of the city are being submerged in water and many affected people lost their belongings. I really don't dare to think of it........ but, I still remember a song taught by my Primary School teacher, here's the lyric.........

Kuching's flooding, Kuching's flooding,
Get a sampan, get a sampan,
Keep on rowing, Keep on rowing!

I think all Kuching Folks will still remember this song as well as it's tune........ Hope the authorities concerned will see to this problem before it is too late....... "Prevention is better than cure!"

What A Pitiful Dog Indeed!!

Talking about "DOGS" in my previous blog........ this morning as I was driving on my way home, I happen to see a dog, not only considered 'skinny or thin' but only bones and skin left!! It's rib-cage can be seen clearly and if you want to count the number of ribs it's also possible, so to speak!!!

From it's body structure, this dog is rather a big-size dog, but due to lack of food or even not been fed (seems to be so......) only it's bones can be seen....... like an old chinese saying "skin wrapped bones" (direct translation)....... meaning no flesh but what can be seen is just the bones wrapped by the skin only! Such a pity sight indeed!!!

Wanna know what???? I am still curious though....... that area are having lots of coffee shops & food stalls, but how come no one feed that poor, pity dog???? Hope it is not because of 'ekonomi merosot" in Malay or recession in english. Whatever unwanted, left over food can always be given to them rather than throwing them into the dustbins........... Anyway, there are many things in life which is difficult to understand??????

End of another school year.........

Again....... how fast time really flies!! Without noticing, another year of school is coming to a close. I wonder how those children are intending to spend their long holiday!!! For some, they might look for some job to get by, others might follow their parents for long holidays, or just being at home enjoying playing computer games, watching TV, reading their favourite books and off course some might be helping their parents to do some house chores..........

However, for those who are sitting for their coming up public examinations i.e. SPM & STPM....... you won't be free yet - this is the time for you to struggle hard, get your revisions done & ready for the exam!!! Don't worry....... cos' if you are well prepared, there will be no cause for worry!!! Be cool and calm to sit for the exam papers and........ good results are sure to await you!!!

I would like to wish "Happy Holiday" to all those who have already started their school holiday and for those sitting for their exams....... "God Bless & All The Best Of Luck & Everything!"

Wrightia Plant (Part 7)

Here's to add in to our "Wrightia Plant or Sui Mui" Catalogue!

For information, these 'small-sized' plants are being re-potted slightly more than a month ago. The structure of the plants which includes it's roots, stems and branches are specially selected to suit the different types of pots. Since re-potting, it's leaves are seen sprouting. If you care to take a good look at Plant No. 4, you'll see few 'cute little flowers' too. (For bigger and clearer image, please click on each picture to view). It is indeed interesting to watch it's changes. For those who love gardening and plants, you will understand what I mean.............

A Day To Honour All Housewife........

As 3rd November is 'Housewife Day' it is time to raise a toast in the honour of the persons who runs the household smoothly day in and day out!!

Talking about being housewife........ well..... most working people will give the impression that they are (the housewives) the most lucky people - don't have to work, just stay at home!!! How many of you have hear of the saying "A Women's Chores Is Never Done"! This saying is very true, try observing your wife or mother at home...... they can still be seen doing their house chores even till late night while the other members of the family is relaxing in front of their TV, reading books, newspapers or chatting away in their sitting room.

So, today being a special day to honour all housewife, let's all try to enjoy and have a great time. Today is the best day for us all to recharge our battery and to spoil ourself with the best of everything. I am sending you all some beautiful roses to remind us all of OUR day!!!

Beware Ladies!!

Why are ladies always being the target???? The latest crime in Kuching City is mainly targeting the ladies who are driving alone!! So daring indeed....... those robbers!!! Performing their "attempting-robbing" act in the middle of Kuching City roads!!! According to our local newspapers, it is the 2nd attempt of its kind lately.

So ladies, be extra careful and alert while you are driving. If such an untoward incident happen, try to keep focus even if we are afraid, try not to panic!! If we can remember (I know its hard for us to remember anything when any such incident happens) try to sound our car HORN continuously. It will help alert the other road users nearby and also scare them off!!!

I just can't imagine, why are they so daring????? The robber, on their motor-cycle hitting and trying to break the car window (on the driver's side), even when the car is on the move.......... Worst some more!!!! The robber refusing to give up and was chasing the whole way......... until finally when she reach a friend's house, they then fled!!! Thank God nothing serious happen to her, except a broken car window and off course - A Scare Of A Lifetime!!!!

Just a piece of advice...... try not to travel alone, especially during the night time. If you have to travel, then get someone to accompany you as that will be safer. "It is better to be safe than regret!"

To all the ladies drivers out there....... Take Care & May God shower His guidance and protection upon us all.........
