A short 'getaway'........[Part 2]

Saturday, 21st August, I wake up at 5 in the morning, boil water for coffee, then get myself a 'cold bath', get change and....... I am ready for the road-trip to Penang!

With everyone ready at 6.30, we then made our journey using Alex's Myvi. It is still quite dark when we started our journey........

We have a one stretch journey from KL to Ipoh. We then stop for breakfast at Foh San Restaurant. We are having Dim Sum...... with lots of varieties to suit our taste buds!!

After our breakfast, Karen suggested to bring us to visit Ipoh's popular Cave Temples. Karen knew Ipoh very well as she have been doing recee (means looking for locations for a drama shoot) and also stayed there for one long month during production time, which is during the shooting time of the drama. There are a few Cave Temples along side each other, but we decided to visit the one at the furthest end. The scenic views surrounding this cave temple is really beautiful and it's landscaping is indeed SUPERB!

At the entrance, Karen bought a bunch of Kangkong for purpose of feeding the turtle in the huge pond at the other side of the cave.........

By spending a little bit more of our time to stop by this great place in Ipoh is really a worthy effort and breath-taking.

A short 'getaway'........ [Part 1]

In our every day to day life, there are many endless things which we have to do, manage and think about....... For this I strongly believe that no one is being excluded, not even me, despite the fact that I have been discharged from my hectic working life of 25 years and 8 months.

That is the reason why me and hubby have decided to have a short 'getaway,' which also gives my children the opportunity to recharge their batteries by joining us for a roadtrip to Penang.

Our trip started on the noon of 19th August (Thursday) by Air Asia Flight from Kuching to KL. Upon arrival we both have our lunch at Marrybrown while waiting for Alex, who is on his way from Malacca. He arrived earlier than expected, so being early we then decided to fetch Karen at her office in PJ.......

Our journey down to Cheras is a real slow moving one due to traffic jams, almost everywhere!!! After a tiring day of travelling, we all decided to go to the Bazaar Ramadhan, which is just next to their Condo to grab food for our dinner........ Chicken Rice, Nasi Briyani with fried chicken, Otak-Otak, Ikan Pari Panggang, Ayam Percik, Dessert, Kuih-Muih & the popular air bandung & orange drinks..........

The next morning, Friday (20th August) Alex have been called in for a meeting despite being on leave, so we all went for breakfast together - Charcoal toasted bread with half boiled eggs & off course a nice cup of Coffee! After breakfast he sent us to the LRT Station and together with Karen (who is on leave) decided to go "Jalan-jalan let's shopping!! & Jalan-jalan cari makan!"

Our first stop is at Mid Valley....... as it is still early most of the shops are not fully open yet, so we took a seat at the food-court & enjoy chit-chatting. Karen intended to survey the underwater camera, so we made our way to all the shops selling Cameras. Finally, we end up in a Canon Concept Store and my eyes caught sight of a Canon Camera "PowerShot A495" which is on promotion and is cheaper than expected! Bearing in mind that my existing camera NIKON Coolpix is six years old and coming across a good offer we decided to own it without much thought.

(Top, right) The new Canon PowerShot A495 (Red Colour)

(Bottom) The 1st photo taken from our new camera and inside the Canon Concept Store......

Thinking about what to have for lunch????? Then Karen recommend us to try a hand on Nyonya Food at Nyonya Colours, here's to share.........

(Top Left) Nasi Lemak (Top Right) Nyonya Chendol
(Bottom Left) Mee Rebus (Bottom Right) Mee Curry

After lunch we made our way to Low Yatt Plaza at Bukit Bintang to get Aaron's Netbook's accessories. While waiting at the LRT Station for our train to arrive Karen captured some photos........

After getting the computer accessories for Aaron, we decided to make our way back home by Taxi. Luckily the weather in KL is not that hot compared to our previous trip in February. I then set on to prepare the ingredients for tonights home-cooked dinner "Pasta Vermicelli" and "Steam Prawns". We managed to purchase all the ingredients for our cooking at Tesco the night before, so everything is in hand, which smooth out my cooking. For information, the prawns are hand carried all the way from Kuching to KL!

We all enjoyed this simple home-cooked meal, which Alex, Karen & Choulyee have been missing as they are away from home.

Quality family time and moments.......

In today's hectic world, not many family are able to get together to enjoy some quality family time and moments. In most situations, there's always the absence of one, two or even more of the family members. Whatever the situation is, whenever an opportunity comes along, we must try to grab it and not giving the least chance for it to slip away.

Apart from the weekend, the only opportunity which most families tend to look forward to is the Public Holiday!! That is considered an extra day to take a break from our normal schedules and also another day for family to spend their quality time and moments together.

Today being our National Day celebration, which is also a Public Holiday for everyone, I presume most families are having plans - having a family picnic/holiday at some popular nearby spots in Kuching; most might enjoy shoppings; enjoyed cooking some nice dishes for the whole family; doing some gardening, washing cars; some might just enjoyed lazing at home communicating with each other; have an early morning breakfast with family members or some prefer having a night-out dinner which allows the 'family cook' to relax, etc...... etc.......

Despite what each family's plans might be, if only we create a positive environment then we are able to enjoy quality family time which in return creates great family moments. I believe that all families are expecting such great moments, than that of arguments, complains & disagreements, which do happen to some family.

Guess most of you are having a great time today, which me and my family have and wishing everyone out there "Happy Merdeka & may all Malaysians continue to live in love, peace, joy and harmony in our multi-racial country".

Greetings to all after a while of silence........

August has been a busy month for me and without much realisation today is already the 28th!! Taking a view at my blog, OMG..... I have only two articles in my blog for this month! Frankly speaking, I need to put my thinking cap into action whenever I intend to do some write ups, or else I would rather keep silence for a while - That's my writing ethic!!!

Will be sharing my write-ups complete with photos on my recent short break and holiday in my next blog. Till then wishing you all
